Michael Fryer and Vanessa and Contopulos are a husband and wife team who met through the Department Peace Studies at the University of Bradford. On a grey morning in March 2009 they connected over a shared love of the arts, peacebuilding and the importance of holistic approaches in conflict transformation and social change. Through The SongStream Project which they co-founded, they work together in exploring voices on the margins of society through the lens of music and memory. Reflective Peace is the next step on their shared journey. They live in San Diego with their daughter Eloise.
They have been working with John Paul Lederach and other colleagues on a number of projects over the past couple of years. One of those has been gathering the digital stories exploring creativity, compassion and spirituality in various fields ranging from peacebuilding to neuroscience that can be found at the website www.theartandsoulofcompassion.com
Vanessa and Michael love sharing their work with others. Check out Michael's recent article for OnBeing on the subversive power of beauty.
